Engage in the Missoula Citywide Parking Plan

The City of Missoula invites the public to help take a deep look at parking management in Missoula and to share their ideas. The Missoula Citywide Parking Plan aims to improve parking and access for everyone in Missoula, today and into the future. Toward that goal, we're holding three public visioning sessions March 15 and 16, each focusing on an area.

  • Hip Strip: Wednesday, March 15, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., University Center Ballroom, University of Montana, 32 Campus Drive
  • Downtown: Thursday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Break Espresso, 432 N. Higgins Ave.
  • Midtown: Thursday, March 16, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Montana Rail Link Park, 2110 S. Johnson St.

The goal is to create a community vision for successful parking management today and into the future.

Missoula started managing parking more than 50 years ago. Since then, our city has grown, and many different competing needs for street and off-street parking and curb space have emerged. As our city evolves and we prepare for the future, leadership of the City of Missoula's Parking Commission, with help from a consultant, is evaluating parking programs and options that can better support the people who live, work and play all around Missoula.

The public can find more information and participate online on our Missoula Citywide Parking Plan page on Engage Missoula: https://www.engagemissoula.com/parkingplan

Parks Interpretation

Parks Interpretation and Signage in North Riverside Parks

Ever year, the Parks & Recreation department and the Missoula Downtown Association receive multiple requests for installation of signage, messaging, and story telling in Caras Park. A master plan will create a cohesive story or set of stories that are most appropriate for the location. The Plan helps visitors understand place. The Plan helps us by focusing on what stories are told in these parks and what stories might be better told in other parks or locations.

Please consider taking a few minutes to help develop an interpretive signage plan (subjects to interpret) in three downtown parks. The survey is open until March 17, 2023.
